Zanetti dream to play with Messi
Javier Zanetti has admitted that Lionel Messi would be an ideal signing for Inter - but concedes that there is little chance of his fellow Argentine leaving Barcelona.
The Nerazzurri were recently taken over by Indonesian businessman Erick Thohir and are expected to splash the cash during the January transfer window.
Zanetti freely admits that he would dearly love to be joined at San Siro by his former Albiceleste team-mate Messi, whom he rates as the world's greatest player.
"We have always had very good relations," the Nerazzurri skipper revealed in a documentary called 'El Mundo Leo'.
"Leo is a simple, normal boy. The moments that we had together [with Argentina] were great, even if in some cases we were not able to win. But the result in some cases is a secondary factor.
"Messi would be ideal for Inter, but I know that he's very happy at Barcelona and in everything he does, he never ceases to amaze me.
"We always expect great things from him when he's on the field because he is the best. But Leo has always been a great, not only for what he does on the field, but also off it.
"He was truly a great player to play with and I'm happy to have had the privilege of playing a part in his beginnings."
